My boss has asked for our computer and voice mail pwords at work. Is this legal?

My boss says when we're gone he wants to be able to access things. So he wants our individual pwords to both our computer and voicemails at work. I don't trust him. I don't have anything to hide. But, just the idea. Why do we have pwords if everyone can have access? Anyone knows the legality of this?
