Should a child molester be forgiven, pardoned, released back into society after being convicted of sodomizing?

several children ages 5 through 9 years of age? or should they possibly receive the death penalty or life without the possibility of parole? If in fact you were the deciding Judge, what would be the sentence you would give that person?
